Criminal Investigations Unit

The Belmont County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Unit is made up of Detectives with various degrees of responsibility. The Detectives investigate felony cases and are members of several Task Forces. Each Detective has their own particular area of expertise and the unit works as a team.

Chief of Investigations Ryan Allar has been in the Criminal Investigations Unit since 2005 and has been in charge of the Investigations Unit since 2008. Chief Allar is a member of the Belmont County Domestic Violence Task Force and the Belmont County Sexual Predator Initiative (SPII) Task Force. Drug Interdiction Unit

Detective Lt. Randy Stewart has been in the Criminal Investigations Unit since May of 2017. The CIU primarily investigates drug offenses. Detective Lt. Stewart is also the Commander of the Belmont County Special Operation Branch and a member of several Task Forces . Detective Lt.
